How are we different?
Each artist is trained under Kirby and has the opportunity for monthly one on one hands on education. We are a big bridal salon that will do hair and makeup either on location or in salon. A bridal coordinator is designated with each bride to guide them through the entire bridal process making sure any questions are asked leading up to the wedding day. Kontempo. stays up to date with trends. We offer a variety of hair extensions and believe we are the best in town.

Hi, I'm
Kirby Keomysay.
I am the Founder + Creative Director around here.
I'm playful, excitable, versatile, scattered and an escapist. I have an upbeat and inventive approach to things. I like to explore new possibilities which gives me a broad range of interests, knowledge and wide social networks.
Hair has been in my blood since the start. It all started back in 7th grade when I began playing around and styling mannequins. Eventually that led to front desk work in high school at my aunt's salon in Bellevue, Nebraska, and not long after I was operating my own mini salon as a high schooler in my parent's basement! Shout out to all my brave high school friends!

What happened next.
After graduating high school, Kirby enrolled at cosmetology school at the Capitol School of Hairstyling and Esthetics in Omaha.
Upon graduating in 2006, Kirby was encouraged by his mentor and famed Nebraska stylist, Lyal McCaig, to compete against the nation’s best at the North American Hairstyling Awards (NAHA). At age 19, Kirby placed first in the student category at NAHA. After returning to Bellevue and working in his Aunt’s salon for two years, Kirby opened his own studio in Aksarben. But it wasn’t long before Kirby was back in the nation’s styling spotlight....
In 2012, after making it to the final round of Bravo’s Shear Genius, Kirby was invited to compete on Oxygen Network’s hit show, Hair Battle Spectacular Season Two. After winning the competition and taking home the cash prize, Kirby used that money to fulfill his childhood dream of opening his own salon. At age 25, Kirby opened Kontempo.—where he and his team have become Omaha’s premier style destination in creating a modern you.
As one of Omaha’s most in-demand artists, Kirby’s dedication to style trends is evident in everything he does. His work has been featured in Modern Salon Magazine, BehindTheChair.com and many local publications. Kirby has been in the winner’s circle as Best Colorist for Omaha Magazine’s annual Best of Omaha publication. Adding to his list of achievements, Kirby was chosen by Lilliana Vasquez – style contributor for the TODAY Show and the current co-host on E! News – to style her hair for the Golden Globe Awards. Most recently, Kirby was the master stylist for Sarah Rose Summers, former title holder of Miss Nebraska and Miss USA 2018, for all of her pageants and upkeep throughout both of her reins. Kirby makes it a priority to pass this knowledge and experience onto his team and plans to continue having a positive impact on the Omaha community for years to come.

I enjoy spending time hosting friends, yoga, cooking and exercising. I’m a dreamer and will manifest positive energy. I don’t like to be bored, trapped or miss out on all the fun things in life. I choose to be enthusiastic, confident and love to share experiences with others. I am the one who accelerates my growth, leading to personal freedom and becoming the person I long to be. I love what I do and look forward to making magic together.
